Evo-Stik Resin 'W' Wood Adhesive Interior is a fast setting, extra strong adhesive that forms a bond stronger than the wood itself. The adhesive itself dries to a clear finish and is suitable for the general bonding of all types of wood.

Preparation:

  • Surfaces to be bonded must be smooth and finished to fit closely together; for dowelled or mortise and tenon joints the clearance must be less than 0.25mm. Surfaces must also be clean, dry and free from dust or loose material. Light abrasion with a medium grade abrasive paper, particularly where sawing or planning has damaged the surface grain, normally gives an acceptable finish
  • EVO-STIK Resin Wood Adhesive (Interior) should be used at temperatures between 5 Deg.C to 25 Deg.C. Apply an even film of adhesive to one of the surfaces to be bonded. In some circumstances, where greater bond strength is required, coat all surfaces. When bonding dowels or tenons it is preferable to apply adhesive to the hole or mortise so that the wet adhesive is carried into the socket when assembly takes place. Wood which has been stored in a cold or humid environment must be allowed to condition in the workshop atmosphere before bonding.
  • Application:

  • Assemble the parts while the adhesive film is still wet. The maximum open assembly time depends on the substrate porosity and ambient temperature, but generally falls within the range of 5 to 10 minutes.
  • When the parts have been assembled, maintain light pressure on the bond line during the initial setting period, using equipment such as vices, jigs, clamps or dead loads
  • The rate of development of joint strength depends upon such variables as ambient temperature, humidity and bonding pressure, in addition to substrate type, porosity, temperature and water content. As a guide, beech substrates at 7 Deg.C must be maintained under pressure for at least 12 hours, whereas at 20 Deg.C and 55% relative humidity, the time under load may be reduced to little more than 1 hour
